I cannot thank you enough for such a brilliant 12 weeks. I miss OMBS so much already!!! I just enjoyed every second of it and wish I could have been on the year long course instead. I am really grateful for all the help you’ve given me. I have learned so many really useful things which I will definitely try to use as frequently as possible so as not to forget any of them. Without a doubt I will be recommending the course to everyone I know. You have such a brilliant team of staff and I will miss you all hugely.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel I have achieved so much. Thank you so much for all your help and patience and for always having your office door open in case we need you, which I did on one occasion.
Thank you

Nicky - Returner to Work, December 2011 Leaver
OMBS has increased my confidence and PA skills greatly. I have met some lovely people and made so many new friends. The best part of the course for me was the work experience week in May when I went to a property company. On my second day I was put forward for an interview with the company and got offered the job on my last day. I started about a month later and used almost all of the skills I learnt at OMBS in my first week! I am currently a Team Assistant and look after two people. I do everything from organising viewings to booking diners to liaising with magazine editors, taking minutes and general office management. I would recommend the course to anyone and my advice would be to enjoy the time you have in Oxford, because it really flies by. Before you know it you’ll be a PA! Good Luck.
Felicity - 3 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
I am so pleased that I chose to do the OMBS course rather than go to university. It really has equipped me with the skills to get such a fantastic job!!
Claire now working in London - PA course September 2010 – June 2011
I chose the Executive PA Diploma at OMBS because I wanted to further my skills particularly in IT and the business world. Considering my personality, I thought a secretarial course like this would cater to all my needs and make me far more employable.
I have learnt such an incredible amount of new skills from OMBS and so much knowledge of myself. I have grown in confidence enourmously. The PDP lessons showed me how important it is to analyse myself in order to know what I really want from a job, personal life, what I am good at and what I need to work on to feel fully content and to get the most out of my working career.
Starting here at OMBS was the best decision I have ever made. I feel so much more confident not only in myself but also when getting out in the work place. The teachers have been amazing with all the support I received. I feel they care so much about each individual student and will even give up their lunch break to help! I have made so many amazing friends and will even be living with a few in Oxford this year!
I dread to think where I would be if I hadn’t come to OMBS and I am so excited about my new life ahead of me! I will be forever grateful to all those at OMBS.
Tiffany - 2 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
I've said it before but I wouldn't be able to do the job I have now without any of the confidence and skills that OMBS has taught me.
Camilla - 3 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
When I made the decision to do this course it was a big decision. At 25 years old and having worked in the catering industry for over 7 years it was a big risk. Having completed the course I realised it was the best risk I have ever taken in my life to date. The skills taught are priceless and the lessons, work experience and interview practice has helped me to home my skills base and develop very quickly. The opportunities from doing this course are endless. If you are driven, ambitious or you have lost a little confidence I would highly recommend this course to help you onto the road of everlasting success!
Rachel - 3 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
This year I chose to study the 6 month Executive PA course. Prior to this I was at Brookes University but was looking for a challenge and to learn practical skills to then implement in my career. There were various options to choose from but took the OMBS as the reviews were exceptional and I saw it as a chance to continue to learn and improve my skills.
The course has been excellent in keeping my eye on the ball throughout the term. As well as learning a huge amount for example shorthand and extensive IT skills and on top of this a slice of e-marketing and economics.
Esther - 2 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
After completing my degree I was unsure which direction to take in terms of my career, and felt that against thousands of other graduates looking for jobs, nothing made me stand out. I chose the 6 month Executive PA Diploma course as it offered the chance to gain skills to make me more employable, and put me a step above other graduates. I am surprised about how much I have learned in such a small period of time, and how many new friends I have made. I am currently signing with agencies in London and hope to move there to work in the near future. I know that without this course I wouldn’t have the same opportunities that I have now.
Jenny - 2 term PA course, June 2011 Leaver
After getting my A level results in August I decided to turn down my offer to go to Bristol to study French and German because I was very concerned that the university and course wouldn’t suit me. I was also apprehensive that going and doing a four year degree wouldn’t necessarily guarantee me a job at the end of it and this is when I started to look at other options.
Although I have lived in Oxford all my life I had never heard of OMBS and came across the website when searching for business courses. I was very anxious about making the decision as to whether to go to OMBS but in the end with no other promising alternatives in the pipeline I decided to go for it.
I am SO pleased I decided to come to OMBS because I have gained great skills for working in an office and made such a great friends. The course has benefitted me in more ways than I could ever have imagined and I am now very confident in myself and my skills.
Olivia, 2 term PA Diploma course, June 2011 leaver
I came to OMBS to gain further qualifications to potentially improve my skills to make me more employable and confident to go out into the work place.
Being here I have learnt to become more independent, as well as many useful skills in the subjects I have learned which have made me feel far more prepared to go into the working world. In particular I feel more confident with interview technique.
I am going home to Lincolnshire for the summer, before hopefully starting work in September in either Oxford or Lincolnshire.
For me the most special things about coming to OMBS have been the friends I have made, and the experience of living independently in a lovely city.
Ellie - 3 term PA Diploma, June 2011 Leaver
After dropping out of University I attended the OMBS course in order to gain some employment skills – what I found were skills and friends that would set me up for life. I completed the 6 month Executive PA course and went straight into a role as PA to the CEO of a manufacturing company in London. My time at OMBS developed the skills that are essential for this role, as well as developing my confidence and organisational skills. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty to you to reach your full potential – both during the course and after graduation, always on had with advice if needed. OMBS has given me a fantastic platform from which to launch myself into the working world, as well as some fantastic lifelong friends.
Camilla - 2 term PA Diploma, April 2010 Leaver
I am so so glad I chose to take this course at OMBS. I have enjoyed it more than I ever imagined and I feel so much more prepared for the working world now. I have been constantly provided with so much support and I have come to care a lot about all the teachers and my fellow classmates. I feel hugely more confident about starting work and it’s great to know that OMBS staff will be there for help and advice even after I’ve left.
Scarlett - Graduate course, December 2010 Leaver
This is my second attendance at this School! I attended the PA course 20 years ago and ventured on to the Mountbatten Internship Programme which was an absolutely remarkable experience to begin my career with.
Now, as a ‘Returner to Work’, I wanted a course of the same calibre to bring my business and IT skills up to date. I genuinely could not find anything better than what Oxford Media and Business School offer and I have willingly travelled a 70 mile round trip daily in order to attend this fantastic 12 weeks course. It has exceeded my expectations and I cannot recommend the course content and tutoring highly enough.
Rachel - Returner to Work course, December 2010 Leaver
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at the college for all the help over the last twelve weeks. Having done an extremely academic subject at University for the last three years I had absolutely no commercial awareness and had no idea what I wanted to do in life before I came here. Now I feel so much more capable as OMBS has set me up with all the skills and confidence to help me take on the real world! Amazing teachers, a great class, friends and contacts for life. Thank you!
Annabel - Graduate course, December 2010 Leaver
Thank you so much for all of your teaching and advice last term. I was really pleased to achieve a Distinction Honours as the result of my Gap Year course and I wanted to thank all of the staff at OMBS for making the course so informative and fun. I really enjoyed my time at college and I know that the skills I have been taught will help me to gain employment temping later in the year. I have been offered a university place at Christ Church, Oxford, to study Art History and the interview advice that I was given in Business Communications and PDP lessons really helped to prepare me. The course as a whole also improved my confidence. Once again, thank you to all the staff at OMBS.

‘...What I really wanted to say though is THANK YOU! I feel like I have changed so much in a year, and all thanks to the skills and confidence given to me at OMBS. 18 months ago I wouldn’t have thought I’d been capable of a getting a job at all and here I am being able to pick and choose between them! It’s a wonderful thing being able to go into an interview knowing both that you are capable of getting the job and of doing the job well. I would recommend OMBS to anyone, in terms of computer skills, office skills, interview technique, confidence and introductions to the recruitment agencies it has proved absolutely invaluable. ‘

I just thought I would get in touch and let you know how my first week went in my new job!
Everyone there is so friendly and nice, and my manager is absolutely lovely! At the moment my role is quite general. This first week I have been mainly assisting my manager who is the PA to a big hedge fund manager. I never really thought about being a personal PA but it actually seems quite nice. I'm helping with the travel, such as when one of the employees goes to China on business I'll have to arrange flights, hotels, visas, transport to and from the airport in both countries etc! And they want me to help cover reception, I had a run through today, and it's very hectic with lots of important people coming and going!
Anyway I wanted to also say thank you very very much for all your help last year! I still can't believe I got such a nice job, in a great company with an amazing salary for a first job! Since I had no proper job experience, I know that it's all thanks to what I learnt at OMBS that I got the job!!
Millie - PA
After dropping out of uni I didn’t know what to do but knew I needed skills in order to get a job. I did the intensive 12 week Business course and I genuinely believe that this has been the greatest asset in progressing in my career.
I feel that the skills I've gained from the College have not only helped me find work but have made me an extremely valuable member of any workforce. It has given me a very rounded set of skills and that along with the interview training given me the extra confidence that I know I can aim for any role.
I really thank the whole team. I hope you are well and to see you all again sometime when I'm back up in Oxford.
Mary-Alice - Intensive course
I decided to come to OMBS because I had no idea what I wanted to do after my A Levels. I attended St Bede’s School as a boarder and completed a Pro Chef Diploma for 2 years and Business Studies. When I started here in September, I was very nervous about what was coming and managed to adapt with the ways of how the College worked. We were set up in different tutored groups and this allowed us to make lifelong friendships. As a class we did fun outings such as ice skating at Christmas and barbeques in the summer time which was always a laugh!
A couple of months went by and I decided to apply for a waitressing job at St Anne’s College. This was part time and I worked in the evenings including weekends and here, I learned some new skills and worked to the best of my ability. Personally, with what OMBS had to offer, I thought was fantastic. We had a very high standard of teaching and support from all the staff and learned how to touchtype, write in shorthand, report writing, presentation skills and many other things.
My next move is to work as an interne at Morey Smith for a month, followed by another month at Sony Music. Thank you OMBS.
Natalie - PA course
Prior to enrolling at OMBS I was in a very different environment. I didn’t go to university when I finished school; I could have but I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to study.
I had a passion for polo and headed out to New Zealand straight after school with a job lined up as a polo groom. From here I travelled to Australia and found another job on a large polo farm which, in the process of three years of coming and going I ended up managing. Visa issues and the distance from home meant the job was impossible to continue with but I absolutely loved it.
On return, after working for a few other polo establishments in England, I decided to set up my own business. I had been very good with the training and sales of the young horses so I started my own business doing the same in England. I funded myself through horse sales and riding out for various race horse trainers. I tried my hardest but my plan was flawed as the price of land was so high I could not make a large enough profit margin after paying rent. After a year of extremely hard work and some enjoyable but very trying times I decided to cut my losses and dissolve it. I decided my best bet to stay in horses but actually make money would be to enter into the admin area.
I started this course with the aim of being able to gain a job as a race yard or polo farm secretary. I have a job lined up for when I finish this course, not in horses, but in an economics firm. This course has changed my perspectives on the job I want, I still want to spend my time out of doors but I am going into this job with an open mind as to whether I make horses my hobby rather than my career.
Caroline - PA course
Before I came to OMBS I was about to start my gap year. I had finished school in July and completed a cooking course during October. My hopes of doing a ski season until April went straight out the window as getting a winter job proved to be a very difficult task.
As I suddenly found myself with no job I decided to investigate OMBS. I had heard from a past student that it was a great place to learn new skills and get a job in the long run. I was set to start at OMBS in January and decided to earn some money for my travels later in the year. I cooked for friends and family for two months earning myself a reputation and much needed cash.
I attended OMBS for 6 months on the Executive PA course and found it a more useful and positive experience than I imagined. It has taught me about all different aspects of the business world and helped me to find out about what I might want from a job. Even though I am going to university in September, I have all the necessary contacts to get a job when I leave because we have been introduced to a great network. I really enjoyed living in student accommodation with fellow students and made so many friends on the course. Overall it has been more than worthwhile and I would recommend it to everyone.
Catherine - PA course during her Gap Year
As a graduate I chose the course to try and gain more qualifications to help me in a working environment. If I didn’t choose this course and continued to look for jobs I wouldn’t be in an advanced place.
This course has definitely benefitted me. It was the right choice! I have now recommended it to friends who have graduated and are in a similar place to where I was.
Katie - PA course
I chose the course because I didn’t want to go to university - it was definitely the best choice for me. I have learnt so much and now feel confident on computers and hope that I will be confident enough to do shorthand when necessary. I couldn’t have asked for a better year!
Ailsa - PA course
I chose the course because I felt as thought I had no transferable skills that I could take into the workplace. The course over the year has been so beneficial, I am so much more confident in the workplace.
I am very grateful to all the staff who have made this year brilliant. It is one of the best decisions I have made so far.
Kimberley - PA course
I chose the course because at the time I did not feel university fitted with my interests. I found this course on the internet and thought it looked like a good alternative. It has proved to be fun, informative and I feel I could get a job I enjoy now. I feel confident on MS Office and feel I understand business environment, letters, reports etc much more now.
Emily - PA course
I chose this course because I didn’t want to spend three years at university but I wanted something that would give me working skills that I could also use to enhance my French ones.
The course has benefitted me in lots of ways. I feel a lot more able and prepared for the working world. I feel I could also go for a job that even graduates may go for.
Pippa - PA course
I chose the course because university did not offer the training I needed to start work within the next few years. This course is short but you still gain all the education any graduate might have. The College looked like the perfect escape to be honest, and it has been.
The course has benefitted me in so many ways: my confidence about getting a job - living on my own - my new computer skills - Teeline skills - meeting new friends and a different outlook on life.
Louise - PA course
I’m really happy I chose the course, it has benefitted me in lots of ways. I never thought I would learn so much in 9 months, with all the skills I have, I feel ready for work.
Rebecca - PA course
This time last year I was shy, had no confidence and had no idea what I wanted to do. After hearing about the course from a family friend I thought it might be a good thing to try.
The course has benefitted me in more ways than I could ever have imagined. I am now very confident in myself and my skills. I have a plan and I feel sure that I will get a job and continue to succeed in learning more and achieving more in the working world.
I have honestly learnt more in these 9 months than I ever learnt at school. I’ve surprised myself at how well I have done in all aspects of this course. I used to think I was stupid! I realise now I just wasn’t doing the right things for me. Anyway, thank you so much OMBS.
Joanna - PA course
I honestly chose the course because I didn’t know what to do next, whether to work or go to university and I wanted more qualifications under my belt.
The course has benefitted me due to being able to work if I decide to and has also helped me get into university. It has given me independence and I have also made some amazing friends and have some amazing memories. I feel more confident within myself and feel ready for the work place.
Lily - PA course
I chose the course to learn skills that would enable me to be better equipped for the workplace, considering my lack of work experience.
The course has increased my confidence levels, mainly in realising my own capabilities with work I am set. I have learned a fantastic new skill in Teeline, I can now type professionally at speed, and I have brushed up well with my IT skills.
James - PA course
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Graduate course! I have learnt all that I wanted to learn and now feel confident using all the programmes on Microsoft Office 2007. I have also discovered a lot about what I would like to do, with regards to my future career. I now can’t wait to get into a job and start using all that I have learnt on the course. I felt that the support I received from the tutors was excellent and have made some really good friends with everyone on my course, thank you!
Carole - Graduate course
The Grad course has been really good fun and interesting. I have felt that the people have made getting a job reassuring because we are all in the same boat and encourage one another. I have felt so much more confident in applying for jobs which I would never even consider before this course. The IT skills have made me a whizz kid on a computer now and I love all the little shortcuts. Although some of my friends outside college think I am a bit of a geek now! Getting a job is now exciting and I cant wait to see where everyone will be after here.
Milly - Graduate course
I chose the Graduate course because I had become stuck in a rut since graduating and wanted to boost my employability. Before I came to Oxford Media and Business School, I never would have dreamed I would be able to do all the things I can do now! Computers have ceased to intimidate me, I now feel confident in my knowledge of how the working world works and I can even write a great press release! The course has really boosted my confidence in my skills...which is exactly what I wanted!
