A Personal Assistant to a top executive is a key part of an organisation’s management team, highly paid and at the heart of a creative modern corporate environment. This course is renowned as the ultimate PA training, offering a unique step into an exciting career.
The PA Course offers a complete training in the role of the Personal Assistant and the use of the latest Microsoft Office packages. The syllabus also offers Shorthand and covers Management support, giving students the confidence to work at a senior level.
The PA Course is 9 months in duration starting in September with a 6 month course starting in January. The course equips students with excellent IT and Business skills making this course a passport to a job. The inclusion of Shorthand on the course makes our students go straight to the top of the selection pile when it comes to job applications.
A week long work experience is a key part of this course (9 month course only) which takes place during the third term. Work experience can be organised in London or Oxford or the student may wish to organise this themselves nearer to home. Many of our students secure job offers from this week.
Course Content
Information Technology: We are aware that all our students can use a computer before they join OMBS, but they need a far more advanced level for the business world. We make sure they leave us with Advanced Microsoft Office skills in all packages and with an excellent keyboarding speed - our current record is 110 wpm! Training is given on the latest high power PCs providing experience of networked computer environments. Students learn how to produce business documentation such as reports, presentations, spreadsheets as well as develop and handle databases effectively and manage electronic diaries.
Shorthand (Teeline): A vital skill for taking minutes of meetings and a huge asset in all aspects of the working office. A key skill for any top PA's career.
Business Communication: Includes written, verbal and non-verbal communication, presentation skills, business correspondence, press releases, reports and meeting documentation.
E-Marketing: With the growth of the web, companies are now having to rethink their marketing strategy with new marketing tactics such as social media and viral marketing.
Office Environment: This module provides the student with the knowledge of the business world and the office skills necessary for effective business and personal administration including travel planning, petty cash and budget control.
Management Information Systems: This subject looks at the opportunities and strategic advantages that a business will gain from utilising its technology correctly.
Personal and Career Development: All students follow a job search programme which includes CV analysis, interview technique and help with the job application process. Students are introduced to recruitment agencies and companies as a means of securing employment.
