A combination of limited graduate job vacancies and a vast increase in University places has meant that new graduates are facing huge competition for good first jobs.
Becoming a graduate is a wonderful achievement and something that one should be very proud of – but – what now? A degree does not necessarily prepare you for the workplace but the Graduate Course at OMBS does. This intensive one term course is designed to build on academic skills acquired at University, by adding a comprehensive set of practical work skills. This means that our graduates are able to offer employers effective performance from day one, giving them the edge when it comes to securing that all important first job.
Course Content
Information Technololgy: We are aware that all our graduates can use a computer before they join OMBS but they need a far more advanced level for the business world. Graduates are taught to advanced level in all the Microsoft Office business programmes. Training is given on the latest high power PCs providing experience of networked computer environments. Graduates learn how to produce business documentation such as reports, press releases, minutes of meetings and powerful presentations. They also learn how to develop and manage databases effectively and manage electronic diaries.
Business Modules: All our graduates study three business modules. Business Communication making sure they become effective communicators, E-Marketing which looks at how companies market themselves and Management Information Systems which looks at the opportunities and strategic advantages that a business will gain from utilising its technology correctly. The graduate course is aimed at equipping students with the practical skills and businesss awareness needed to start work.
Career Placement Support: Training and, crucially, practical support in the process of securing the best possible first job. This includes help with CV preparation, interview coaching and job placement.
