The course has been extremely beneficial to me and it has taught me extensive IT skills which made me stand out during work experience week, resulting in being offered a full time job!

Busy Times Ahead

Thursday April 18 2013

We are now in our final term of the Executive PA Diploma course.  This year has flown by.

It is this term that the focus turns to job applications since all our students are eagerly looking towards finding their first major job when they graduate from OMBS in June.  In order to help them the college has arranged for a number of recruitment agencies to visit us and enrol our students onto their books.  This provides an opportunity to practise interview skills and to make sure their CV is up to date.  They are prepared even further when our external consultant sees each student for their Mock Interview.

This term also sees our students going out for a week’s work experience in May to provide a real insight into many of the industries our students will be going into.  We often see job offers being given at the end of the week!

However, we don’t forget about their lessons as their IT skills are now being brought up to an advanced level while typing speeds are working towards 55 wpm and shorthand speeds are being brought up to 100wpm (with 5 who have already achieved this).  This term also sees the culmination of our student’s share reports where they have been closely monitoring a chosen large company and its position within the FTSe100, applying the knowledge acquired in their business module.

We then round the whole year off with a fabulous graduation ceremony at the beautiful St Aldates Church.
