About Us
Set in the picturesque heart of this historic city, the College is ideally positioned for our students to make the most of their time in Oxford.
History of Oxford Media & Business School
Oxford Media & Business School has had a long history of producing first class students who very quickly move up the career ladder giving us an excellent reputation.
Oxford Media & Business School used to be known as St Aldates Secretarial College which was formed in 1976-7 and expanded rapidly, moving from George Street to Rose Place.
The careers department gained its own Careers Direct identity in 1995, negotiating directly with clients and specialist agencies to place students into jobs and linking overseas to the very popular Mountbatten Internship Programme, in New York, USA.
With the acquisition of Mrs Thomsett and the renowned Oxford and County Business College in January of 1999, came the opportunity to re-brand under the new name of Oxford Media & Business School. OMBS continues to be at the forefront of training and because of this the college now specialises in four main courses – Executive PA course, Graduate, Gap and ‘Returner' course.
Focusing on the needs of the individual
A unique combination of the latest IT facilities, small group tuition and a relaxed friendly environment means students achieve to the very maximum of their potential.
Many colleges, most notably those at University level, deliver training principally through large set-piece lectures, often to as many as 200 students at a time. Whilst this presents few disadvantages to more experienced students, many first year level students can benefit from a greater level of individual attention. Similarly, when it comes to learning the practical hands-on skills essential for effective job performance, small classes are equally important.
At OMBS we keep our group sizes to an absolute minimum with an emphasis on securing as much personal tutor contact as possible. This helps students progress rapidly by addressing problem areas as and when they occur. All OMBS programmes are specifically geared towards helping our students towards their careers. We therefore take great care to ensure that our syllabi meet the requirements of employers and equip our students with the skills they need for on-going success.
Our Information Technology facilities, for example, are second to none with excellent computer Training Rooms equipped with the most up-to-date computers.
The British Accreditation Council
Oxford Media & Business School is accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education.
